Regulatory Context
Frameworks Covered
The nine tools in this hub implement requirements and guidance from seven major climate and nature frameworks spanning disclosure, measurement, and instrument standards.
TCFDTask Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (2017)
The TCFD recommendations, published June 2017 by the FSB-convened task force, define 11 recommended disclosures across four pillars: Governance, Strategy, Risk Management, and Metrics & Targets. Physical risk (acute and chronic) and transition risk (policy, technology, market, reputational) are the two core risk categories. TCFD has been adopted as the basis for mandatory disclosure in the UK (LR9.8A), New Zealand, and other jurisdictions, and is foundational to ISSB S2.
ISSB S2IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures — ISSB (June 2023)
IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standard S2, issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board in June 2023, builds on the four TCFD pillars and adds quantitative requirements including Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions, climate scenario analysis, and transition plan disclosure. S2 is effective for annual reporting periods beginning 1 January 2024. The FCA has committed to issuing UK-endorsed ISSB standards, with mandatory application for premium-listed issuers expected from 2026.
IPCC AR6IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (2021–2022)
The IPCC AR6 cycle (Working Group I–III, 2021–2022) defines the scientific basis for physical climate hazard assessment, including the Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) scenarios: RCP 2.6 (~1.5–2°C), RCP 4.5 (~2–3°C), and RCP 8.5 (~3–5°C by 2100). AR6 hazard taxonomy covers 9 acute and chronic hazards including extreme heat, coastal flooding, river flooding, drought, wildfire, and tropical cyclones, now widely used in TCFD physical risk assessments.
EU GBSEU Green Bond Standard — Regulation (EU) 2023/2631
The European Green Bond Standard, effective December 2024, creates a voluntary "European Green Bond" label. Issuers must allocate 100% of proceeds to EU Taxonomy-aligned activities, appoint an accredited external reviewer registered with ESMA, and publish a pre-issuance factsheet and post-issuance allocation report. The standard sits alongside the non-binding GBS2.0 voluntary framework and is intended to reduce greenwashing in green bond markets.
TNFDTNFD Final Recommendations v1.0 (September 2023)
The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures published its final recommendations in September 2023 after two years of beta testing. TNFD adopts the TCFD four-pillar structure and introduces the LEAP (Locate, Evaluate, Assess, Prepare) due diligence framework for nature-related risk assessment. Ecosystem service categories follow IPBES classifications: provisioning, regulating, cultural, and supporting. Over 320 organisations had committed to TNFD adoption by early 2025.
SBTiSBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard (October 2021)
The Science Based Targets initiative Corporate Net-Zero Standard requires companies to set near-term science-based targets (5–10 years, aligned to 1.5°C) and long-term net-zero targets (by 2050 at the latest, with ≥90% absolute emissions reduction). Companies must also address value chain (Scope 3) emissions. Over 7,000 companies had committed to SBTi as of mid-2024. The Net Zero Asset Managers initiative (NZAM) extends comparable commitments to investment managers, covering managed assets under net zero–aligned strategies.
Paris 1.5°CParis Agreement — UNFCCC (2015)
The Paris Agreement, entered into force November 2016, commits 196 parties to holding global average temperature increase to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, pursuing efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C. Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are submitted and updated every five years. The 1.5°C pathway — requiring global net CO2 emissions to reach zero by around 2050 — is the reference scenario for SBTi, NZAM, and most climate finance alignment frameworks.
Workflow Guide
How the Tools Chain Together
The nine tools are designed to support end-to-end ESG workflows. Below are three common use cases showing how tools sequence from data inputs through to disclosure-ready outputs.
Portfolio Climate Risk Workflow
T49 PCAF T380 Physical Risk T364 TCFD/ISSB S2

Start with T49 to quantify portfolio financed emissions and establish the Scope 3 baseline. Feed exposure data into T380 to map physical hazard exposure across RCP scenarios by asset and geography. Complete the disclosure cycle with T364 to score TCFD/ISSB S2 readiness and identify disclosure gaps ahead of reporting deadlines.

Green Instrument Issuance Workflow
T381 EU GBS T366 SLL/SLB KPI

Use T381 to screen proposed green bond proceeds against EU GBS Regulation 2023/2631 — verifying EU Taxonomy alignment, accredited verifier status, and factsheet completeness. For sustainability-linked instruments alongside or instead of use-of-proceeds bonds, run T366 to validate that performance KPIs meet ICMA SLP and LMA SLLP adequacy standards before structuring.

Net Zero & Nature Reporting Workflow
T382 Net Zero T364 TCFD/ISSB S2 T383 TNFD

Open with T382 to score alignment against SBTi, NZAM, and the Paris 1.5°C pathway and surface the most material decarbonisation gaps. Integrate those gap findings into T364 to build the Metrics & Targets pillar of the TCFD/ISSB S2 disclosure. Extend the disclosure package with T383 to assess nature-related risks and dependencies using the TNFD LEAP framework and complete the biodiversity disclosure checklist.
